The Keurig coffee maker
is a one cup brewer that holds water so that it is always warm, and
makes use of special k-cups inside the maker for the coffee taste.
There is no need to worry about grinds for your coffee, or for deciding
what to do with the extra amount in your pot. One thing you do have
to worry about, however, is decalcifying the water storage. But as
long as you keep up proper maintenance on your Keurig coffee maker,
and clean it regularly, it should not be much of a problem.
Limits to the Keurig coffee machine
While it is very
convenient, especially around the office, there are a few limitations
to the Keurig machine. You cannot make espresso, or cappuccino,
although the coffee is gourmet. And because there is no carafe,
as the coffee maker does only
one cup at a time, you cannot make
a large amount of coffee, unless you get the bigger version, approved
for offices (although it works well in the home as well).
However, over all, the Keurig coffee machine does a great job of
providing delicious coffee. Without coffee pods or whole beans, the
k-cups are a compact way to put a great and fresh tasting coffee
into a brewer. Additionally, because the water storage unit is heated,
it takes less than a minute to brew a cup of coffee. This reservoir
is removable, as is the drip tray, for easy cleaning and refill.
The home version brews less, but the office version can provide many
cups in the office break room.
Other features include a digital message centre and display, which
is programmable. The larger office and home version features a water
level indicator that lets you know when you need a refill. This makes
it easier to know when someone needs to add more coffee to the pot.
Additionally, a charcoal filter is available for the larger version,
making it possible to remove impurities and the taste of chlorine
from the water with which the coffee is brewed. With a relatively
easy clean up and very little mess altogether (the k-cups make it
unnecessary to measure grounds into a filter), it is very easy to
see why a great choice for home or office use is the Keurig coffee
maker.
